WELCOME to another INTERVIEW EDITION with Guest Jill Woods! Mentoring Moments include the following when training a new hire within the hotel sales department on the complexity of citywide events: 1. Breakdown tasks and information over time. 2. Manage the unexpected. 3. Layer your business. Wood's Bio: Currently Dual Director of Sales for Aimbridge Hospitality in the Indianapolis Downtown market representing the Courtyard by Marriott at the Capitol and the Residence Inn on the Canal. The last 10 years I was blessed to work with the best in hospitality at the Residence Inn - Fishers, as well as Regional Sales for Extended Stay America and Task Force Management for First Hospitality Group. I continue to work on writing about the hospitality business and look forward to publishing another book with Jokima Hiller. See my blog at seejilltravel.wordpress.com. We now have 2 published books, The RevPar Formula and The Red Book. My passion is developing others who may have a gift for the hospitality industry but have limited resources. Knowing that Operations and Sales go hand in hand has helped me move from Corporate Sales to AGM to GM in less than one years time at a previous property. Have managed Sales Building for two hotels during the same time period, supervising a Sales Coordinator at each property. Some advertising / marketing experience as well. Have 10 years of experience in the Restaurant Industry which includes prep, serving, hosting, and some management duties as well. I firmly believe where I am today and in the future is because of the managers I have worked for while building my career. Specialties: Making others see how fun and rewarding the hospitality business is. Negotiating hotel rates with companies, approving and sometimes developing advertising proofs, organizing, public speaking and conducting employee meetings/trainings. #hospitality #mentoring #moments
